Make gorgeous divided bowls quickly and easily. No lathe? No problem. This technique uses a router and a specialized Bowl and Tray router bit. The kit includes two templates, a Bowl and Tray bit, and a collet extension, full instructions and an instructional DVD. The end results will stun your friends with high quality. And what great gifts!

Bowls and trays made with this set provide an excellent use for scrap wood. Glue pieces butcher block style to make a beautiful pattern of colors and species. The templates will withstand a lifetime of use, and with a little imagination they can be used to make several styles of bowls or trays. The DVD provides specific examples of how to modify your designs. The collet extension, used to make extra deep bowls, is also useful whenever your general woodworking requires extra deep cuts.

Bowl and Tray Kit

The CMT Bowl and Tray Bits are ideal for making bowls, trays, boxes, cutting boards and many other specialty or craft items. We call these tools Bowl and Tray bits, but you can get lots of work from these bits even if you never rout a bowl or tray. Everybody needs a cutting board for example, and these bits rout a groove that's perfect for catching meat juice or drippings. Or use them to rout beautiful raised sign lettering, unique boxes, or lots of other specialty or craft items. The round corner of the bit shapes the inner radius while the sides and bottoms create smooth flat surfaces. For best results on jobs where accuracy is a priority we recommend using our top bearing bowl and tray bits shown at the bottom of this page.
